Pro-Immigrant house republicans lawmakers
« on: February 09, 2007, 11:45:45 PM »

I dont know whether anyone knows the list of the House GOP members that would be willing to vote for comprehensive immigration but i think it would be very helpfull to know who those members are so that pro-comprehensive immigration reform lobbyist could target them.

So far, im only aware of 4 republican house members that are locks, and the democrats will need at least 10-15 more.Im planning to call some of them and hope they would at least be open minded when the issue comes up later this year.

Here's the list of the members that we can count on to vote for comprehensive immigration reform.
1.Rep.Jeff flake of arizona
2.Rep.Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of florida
3.Rep.Lincoln Diaz-Balart  of florida
4.Rep.Mario Diaz-Balart of florida

The other possibility is Rep Mike Cannon of Utha..The reason why i didnt put him as a lock is because i saw his name listed among the GOP house lawmakers that is pushing the white house to grant a pardon to the 2 border guards that shot a mexican and tried to cover it up...Now, i know this doesnt mean he's not a lock, but everyone else on this list are the extremist who are all pushing for enforcement-only bill...The 4 GOP house lawmakers that i listed above arent on the list of the extremist GOP house members.

One thing to know about Mike cannon is, the anti-immigrants GOP house members funded his primary opponent who ran hard right as an anti-immigrant guy and labeled Cannon as an amnesty guy...Tancredo and the majority of those GOP house members which he share a caucus with, wanted him defeated because they felt he was an "open border lobby", so this is why i think Cannon could be a possible lock for comprehensive immigration reform.

A good way to seek out the open minded GOP house members that support Bush on immigration is by taking a look at Tancredo's Immigration house caucus who are all"mass deportation" advocate, and whoever is not a member of Tancredo's immigration caucus should be targeted because they are atleast open minded on immigration if they arent taking part on this extreme immigration group.

Tancredo house caucus stand at about 79 members..They used to have at least 96 members, but a lot of them lost their re-election bids and im hearing some have defected tancredo's ranks  because they felt Tancredo was served a huge blow that saw many of his members lose + the fact that some defecters knew that their president is expected to push them hard to vote for comprehensive immigration.

Now, there's 202 house republicans and 79 are locks to vote against anything to goes farther then just enforcement...202-79=123.....Meaning that those 123 members should be targeted....We only need 1/4 of 123 to guaranty us clean passage because im hearing there are 170-180 democrats whom are locks, so we will need at least 20-30 defector from the GOP side.

What do you think? and do you know locks on the GOP side that ive missed?

Most of ALIPAC's contributions went to John Jacob, who ran in a primary against Chris Cannon to try and take the line from him in the general election, but failed. Tancredo's Team America contributed heavily as well.

really..i knew that Tancredo's team america heavily funded jacob's campaign but unaware that william gheen also took part in trying to defeat cannon...No wonder why william is hesitant to fund lawmakers anymore.

I bet they felt real bad when cannon won by a good margin.....Did ALIPAC funded randy graf???

Yeah, ive heard about tancredo stepping down and i dont understand it...Some have suggested that after he gets crush on the GOP primary, he'll launch a 3rd party candidacy and leave the republican party, but i doubt he will do that since he wont be able to reclaim his safe seat in the house.

Could this be that tancredo knows that its over and comprehensive immigration reform is coming, and he knows that if this bill ever passes and gets enacted, that will be it for his career since he dedicated his entire career to stop the immigration bill.

Tancredo, im hearing, is very unpopular outside the immmigration house caucus, and i wouldnt be surprise if he made the decision to step down so he wouldnt tarnish the caucus since ive also heard that people are defecting.

Maybe he thinks that if he's no longer the president, they will be able to attract more people including democrats.

Anyway, do they have the new list up yet??? Ive heard a lot of republican left because Bush is expected to twist some arms and make them votes against tancredo's will on immigration...Could it be the fact that those people already made up their mind that they were going to support Bush that they had no choice but to leave tancredo's caucus.
