Well Willy, to be fair, she swore an oath to protect the United States (not "Americans," as this would entail taking charge of the entire Western Hemisphere,) against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
Walk around carrying rifles and bitchin' about a black man in the White House, expect that new friend you met at the last meeting to be packin' a federal badge.

I can understand not knowing who you were speaking to when you go to a place one time, especially if you're on a book tour. But speaking before them several times?
Alheimer's will only get you so far.
Ditto the book crap. If I were allegedly writing a book and my name was plastered on the front cover in letters big enough to see from the street, I'd make damn sure I knew what was in that bad boy.
Which begs the question: he's been interviewed about these books for months on the various talk shows. He doesn't seem to dissemble on those, why in front of a lawyer?

MAIN / The ICE Capades / Re: ICE agents posing as LDS missionaries?

I was working on a Journalism degree way back in my younger days, which means I don't write anything I can't back up with documentation.
Marina Lowe has nothing but secondhand information to go by, and that's spotty at best.
While I wouldn't put it past any bottom-feeding government enforcer to pose as a missionary, I'd need a hell of a lot more solid information before I started making such accusations. Not for the sake of the article or story mind, but rather to maintain my own credibility.
Now, as to this story: it's very possible some LDS bubbas were used as ICE informants.
If that's the case, or if the story is true, then the LDS missionaries are going to find their credibility is destroyed.

It's that "exigent circumstances" that bugs the hell out of me. It covers such a vast swathe of gray area, including a baby crying or a firecracker going off during a Fourth of July party.
"Exigent Circumstances" is a cop's "Get Out of Crap Free" card.

Herrera needs to STFU.
He's five years from Social Security in a state about to go bankrupt. The country's population is aging, fast: the Pepsi Generation worried too much about their bling and less about building the next generation, and GenY is too busy with their gamepads to take control of their joysticks. With the vast majority of the population heading gray, we need these immigrant kids educated and working, or else we're gonna see Grandma and Grandpa Stoner in MickeyD polyester when they're in their 70's, and beyond.
But then again, the Pepsi Generation hasn't thought of anything but themselves since they were kids, so it's no surprise to see them denying education to those who could benefit the most.

MAIN / News / Re: Phone points illegal border crossers to water

I'm torn on this one.
First off, like the article says, some numbnuts is gonna get ahold of one of these phones and destroy or poison these water tanks. Somebody goes down to Tijuana and offers $1,000 for a free cell phone, it's a done deal.
But then...
Think about it. How many towers are there out there in the desert? And how will the UCSD students pay for cell phone accounts to keep the signals active? Last I checked, cell phone companies don't offer discount rates for people just using the phones to track GPS coordinates. And all Homeland security has to do is block civilian satellite signals in that area (the military was doing this when the GPS system was first introduced, keeping their precision at a hazy 25 meters.)
This looks more like a high-tech art project than a practical system. And by the looks of things, it's done it's duty: called attention to these students.

This should not be a surprise to anyone. Most bullies cower when confronted with a force larger than themselves, in this case the legal system.
I expect this type of tape to surface once Arpaio is 'detained' for questioning by the DOJ sometime this year.

So the National Geographic Channel isn't above the occasional hype? Color me dumbstruck.
I'm thinking they're going to cover more than just the activities on the border, probably cover the hyperbole and possibly show the "border bubbas" for what they really are.
Idiots.
