How to Argue Like an Anti Illegal Immigrant Activist |

1. If your opponent presents facts and logic you can't refute, act incensed. Under no circumstances "dignify" his argument by responding with facts and logic of your own.
2. Get angry (or at least pretend to be) and call your opponent names. Call him a "traitor". Call him "Anti American", or a "racist" or a "bigot". That should scare most people off and draw their attention away from the facts and logic you can't refute.
3. Attack! Always attack, never defend. Remember, you can make up 10 new lies while he is still trying to present his carefully footnoted, meticulously researched refutation of your first lie.(Jerome Corsi - Obama Nation) While he's boring everyone to death, you can be showboating. He's doing all the intellectual work, and YOU are getting the credit for being the intelligent one. Such a deal, VIVA!
4. Always tell your opponent he's "ignorant", but remember the first rule and never sink to telling him exactly what he is ignorant of. That way, you can retain the appearance of superior knowledge without running the risk of being exposed as a fraud.
5. If your opponent cites expert opinion, just sneer at his sources. Say they are "pseudo-activist’s" who have been "discredited". Always demand more and better proof, even of things that are obvious. Eventually, he will get tired of your nonsense, and you'll look like a winner when he doesn't respond.
6. Keep in mind that, as a MINUTEMAN, ALIPACer or their supporters, you can refute a mountain of opposing evidence by simply citing a single "credible" (and of course, F.A.I.R) source of your own. NEVER NEVER NEVER debate the underlying facts of the matter. That's boring and will lose the audience's attention. It'll make you look like a schmuck!
7. Pathologize your opponent. He must be made to seem to have some mean, perverse motive for presenting those pesky facts and logic you can't refute. Depict him as suffering from psychological problems. He's got an inferiority complex, or he's jealous, or he's ashamed of having a small dick, or he can't get laid, or he's petty and mean in some other way. Here's an area where you can really let your imagination run wild! Your goal is to create the impression that the only possible motive he has for opposing you is a sick one. BONUS: The sicker you make him look, the better YOU look! You, Dr. Freud, will seem the picture of mental health and well-being by comparison. ADDITIONAL BONUS: The facts and logic you can't refute will all seem to magically disappear, washed away in your torrent of slime. VIVA!
8. Shout your opponent down. If you can't intimidate him into silence, then use censorship. Get his website shut down/posts removed/ISP yanked, etc. Get him fired from his job.(shades of Willy Gheen) Even get laws passed to make saying what he's saying a criminal offense. Have no shame about it. Remember, he is anti-American, and that means you have the moral high ground, no matter what!
9. Never explain, never justify, never sink to reasoning with an open border American. As a Minuteman, Alipacer, or one of their supporters, that is beneath you. Remember, you're the Chosen People and this is your land! |

LAW PASSED IN '00 ENCOURAGES EMIGRES TO SPEAK UP IF THEY'RE VICTIMS OF CRIME Article Launched: 08/08/2008 01:32:30 AM PDT The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has issued the first handful of U visas for immigrant victims of crime and domestic violence, almost eight years after Congress enacted the legislation meant to help law enforcement. One of the first recipients of the special, temporary visa is Bay Area resident Jose Suarez, 38, an undocumented immigrant from western El Salvador, who was severely beaten in a 2007 robbery in San Mateo. A construction worker, Suarez's court testimony led to the felony assault conviction last year of a San Mateo man who served six months in the county jail and was sentenced to three years' probation. "I've no words to say how grateful I am," said Suarez, "to God and to people who have helped me." With the new visa, Suarez is able to remain legally in the United States, work with a permit and, in three years, apply to become a permanent resident. There were four other visas issued recently to immigrants in Chicago and New York City. |

American Legion Immigration Report Replete with Falsehoods |

from the Southern Poverty Law Center: by Sonia Scherr on July 16, 2008 Since its founding nearly 90 years ago, the American Legion has been a fixture of community life. It has hosted Memorial Day parades to remember those who died in America’s wars. It has held bingo nights and dances at its 14,000-plus posts worldwide. It has supported thousands of Boy Scout groups, sponsored a baseball program that’s produced numerous professional players, and helped children living in poverty or with special needs. From World War II to the war in Iraq, the legion has fought to improve benefits for veterans and their families.
Now, America’s largest veterans organization has launched another campaign — a hard-line attack on undocumented immigrants that’s at odds with the legion’s mainstream image. As part of this effort, the legion, which purports to speak for 2.7 million members, recently issued a booklet that regurgitates discredited and often completely false information about how “illegals” are bringing crime, disease, and terrorism to this country, even as they wreck the economy for natives.
The legion’s 34-page booklet, A Strategy to Address Illegal Immigration in the United States, asserts that “poverty, political instability, disease and war” are “on our back doorstep” because of porous borders and the failure of the government to stringently enforce immigration laws. But in making its case, the legion repeatedly cites dubious sources, ignores well-known facts and makes baseless claims — such as the false assertion that the undocumented infected more than 7,000 people in America with leprosy during a recent three-year period.
“They’re sort of trotting out old tropes to do with immigration,” said Richard Wright, a Dartmouth College geography professor who specializes in immigration. “These are hackneyed stereotypes that have no place in a policy document.” |

Isabel Garcia of Coalicion de Derechos Humanos responds |

Good afternoon, and thank you for allowing me to respond in writing, as I am presently out of town. As you know, Derechos Humanos, along with 6-7 community groups, called for a protest of Joe Arpaio’s appearance at his book signing at the Barnes and Noble. Because of Maricopa Sheriff’s Arpaio’s outrageous police actions in the communities of Phoenix, as well as his political views surrounding the immigration issues in general, many of us in Tucson have made a promise that we will not allow him to come into our town without him hearing from those of us who stand in support of the thousands of workers and their families who have borne the brunt of his narrow-minded, ignorant policies. That he would come to Tucson to promote a book filled with lies, fear, and ignorant perspectives about immigrants, was especially appalling to us. We stand for the principles of peace and justice. We live in a very precarious moment in history, where, again, human beings are being demonized and scapegoated, exploiting on the ugly and fearful in all of us. Derechos Humanos protested Arpaio, handing out flyers, briefly explaining why,and what he has done in Phoenix. You can have one of our leaflets if you would like, but among other things we denounce his antics that have created great racial divisions in Phoenix, at a more than $41,000,000 cost to the taxpayers, and a few other actions he has engaged in. The leaflet states that we “continue to work for a community that is diverse, respectful, and appreciative of each other’s differences.” Others brought signs and megaphones, with someone bringing a large piñata with Arpaio’s face glued on the head. I am sure you are aware that these types of symbolic images are not only common, but generally are used in context of referring to the policies of individuals in power. I am now the target of a corporate-media-sponsored campaign to get me fired from my job as the Pima County Legal Defender. |

from CNN: ALLENTOWN, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- Allie Mulvihill may seem like your typical American teenager, but she has something weighing on her mind that most 15-year-olds do not: deportation.
Allie may be forced to leave the country because U.S. immigration officials are questioning the legitimacy of the Guatemala native's adoption by her parents, Lori and Scott Mulvihill, in 1994.
When the Mulvihills brought their then 2-year-old daughter to their home in Allentown, Pennsylvania, they believed she would be granted citizenship.
But U.S. immigration officials questioned whether the woman who gave Allie up for adoption in Guatemala was really her biological mother. Allie's birth certificate was issued 10 months after she was born, which raised suspicions in U.S. officials' minds that she was made available for adoption due to a baby trafficking scheme. |
